Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has confirmed that the Mariners and Corey Hart have reached an agreement. This is a one year deal, and how much this deal is worth is not official yet, but Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports has reported that the deal compares favorably to Mike Napoli’s contract with the Red Sox last year. Napoli signed a one-year, $5 million deal with incentives that took the deal to $13 million.

Hart missed the entire season last year, which is a problem. It’s pretty safe to say that Hart would be getting a lot bigger of a contract if he didn’t miss the season last year, but that is not the case, unfortunately.

In 2012, the last season that Hart played in, Hart had a slash line of .270/.334/.507, as well as 30 home runs and 83 runs batted in. He is a great offensive player, but his defense is very bad. He does play first base though, so his defensive struggles aren’t going to be too much of an issue.

The Mariners now have both Robinson Cano and Corey Hart in their lineup. Those are two great players. The Mariners are on a shopping spree this offseason, and I truly believe that they are going to be a great team next season.
