The Seattle Seahawks took a page right out of the Left Shark’s playbook calling a late game audible to go completely off book, much to the tune of Left Shark’s alternative dance routine and win it on a quick slant pass into traffic. But instead of becoming a hilarious internet meme, they became an internet joke and will be under fire for it until the end of time.
They managed to lose the biggest game of the season from less than a yard away and with three downs to go. Harsh.
In the aftermath of it all, I’m still trying to figure out what went wrong. But the fact of the matter is, we lost fair and square. They made a great play and defeated us in dramatic Super Bowl fashion. Fans must come to terms with it and move on. I know that’s what I have to do. But after watching the deciding Malcolm Butler interception, I wanted to allow myself to throw a fit in the same way my 8-year-old nephew was. I could not let it happen though. I had to be the adult and not sulk in front of him and the rest of my family. Not to say it isn’t a part of the healing process. Like a rough break-up, we all need time to be upset and then find ways to heal.
Yes, the end of this game was like a bad break-up. But in the long run, everything will be just fine. Because there’s so much to look forward to, and getting over this season will just have to start with the beginning of a fresh one. We’ll have new hopes and dreams as well as new contracts!
The majority of the defense is locked in for the next several years and with impending deals in place for the two offensive MVP’s in Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, the future will be very bright. The Seahawks have plenty of years ahead of them where yearly Super Bowl appearances are going to be expected. The Westgate SuperBook and the William Hill sports book are dubbing the Seahawks as 5-1 favorites to win Super Bowl 50. Oh, and 50 is a way cooler than 49!
The key for the Seahawks will ultimately be the locker room magic and making sure the culture they built stays intact. Keeping the guys together will most certainly make for years of success. Because one busted play will not define this team. They are too mentally tough to allow it. Nobody knows it better than QB Russell Wilson.
“Our goal is to get back next year. Our goal is to prepare the right way. Our goal is to keep your mind right, stay strong mentally and just keep fighting. We have so many great players, so many great people on our football team, our organization.”
They have all the necessary pieces in place to remain atop the NFC for years to come. It’s just having the right mindset to continue to play for each other.
