On Phil Steele’s blog this week, he posted his home field advantages for all 120 FBS schools. Below, I have listed the SEC schools in order by Phil. He gets his ranking by 9 different factors that include record at home the past 5 years, attendance percentage, actual attendance, etc.

2010 SEC Home Field Advantage Ranking

#5 Florida

#13 LSU

#16 Bama

#18 Tennessee

#21 Arkansas

#22 Auburn

#26 UGA

#40 South Carolina

#62 Ole Miss

#69 Kentucky

#82 Miss. State

#110 Vandy

In my opinion, Phil’s rankings for the SEC are pretty accurate as I can see The Swamp and Death Valley being the two toughest places to play in the SEC.

As for the overall rankings, Boise State has the biggest home field advantage in the nation, and Eastern Michigan has the worst home field advantage. A couple surprises were Florida State which was ranked at 58, right below East Carolina…does playing in Greenville, NC really put fear in opponents?

Cincinnati ranked 31st?  The have a bigger home field advantage than Michigan?  I don’t know if I can believe that. I know Phil is using a formula to figure it out but I just have a hard time seeing Boston College having a better home field advantage than Clemson, Georgia and Michigan.

Please check out Phil’s article and let me know what you think.
