This week, we asked readers and followers if Florida State was correct to dismiss quarterback De’Andre Johnson, who punched a woman in a bar in late June.
From the Staff
I have written on this before and the short answer is yes. Florida State has struggled over the last couple years with its reputation when it comes to discipline — justified or not.
The perception is that FSU doesn’t discipline players and allowing Johnson to stay after punching a woman would be a public relations nightmare. Aside from just that, head coach Jimbo Fisher and the university had to send a message that such actions would not be tolerated. Johnson has admitted his actions were inexcusable and will likely find a roster spot at another school, but hitting a woman is never okay.

@Noled_Out Yes, unless they wanted to get hammered from a PR standpoint.

Of course. He punched a woman. In public. On video. The last two points emphasize. The 1st is the most important. https://t.co/oxBGTHyKf8

@Noled_Out I just want to know if Jimbo would allow him back next year. A one-year dismissal is punishment enuff. #forgiveness
