Seminole Sound-off: Favorite FSU Moment in a Postseason Tournament

blitzburgh-crunch

In this week’s Seminole Sound-off, we asked our readers what their favorite Florida State moment in a conference or NCAA tournament was.

From the Staff

When I was at Florida State, I watched the Seminoles beat Wichita State to reach the College World Series, but the postseason tournament moment that sticks out the most came on the hardwood.

After reaching the Sweet 16 in 2011, Florida State won its only ACC basketball title in 2012. Winning a championship in a basketball rich conference like the ACC seemed so far from a reality for years for FSU, but what made the 2012 championship particularly special was the road to the title.

In the quarterfinals, Florida State beat rival Miami before topping powers Duke and North Carolina in consecutive days. The Seminoles won the final two games by three points each as both the Blue Devils and Tar Heels missed 3-pointers at the buzzer. Unfortunately, FSU underachieved in the NCAA Tournament losing to Cincinnati in the round of 32 and hasn’t appeared in the dance since, but the conference crown may forever be Leonard Hamilton’s crowning achievement as head man of the Seminoles.
