Seminole Sound-Off: What Constitutes a Successful Season for FSU?

bowllamarrnormduke

This week, we asked our readers what would constitute a successful football season for Florida State in 2015.

From the Staff

For 2015 to be considered a successful season for Florida State, I think the Seminoles need to win 10 games and that can include a bowl.

The stretch in October and November that features contests against Miami, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Clemson and N.C. State in a 6-game span is rough, but not one where FSU can’t go 4-2 or 5-1. The ceiling for this team is an ACC crown and a New Year’s Six bowl. A playoff appearance is highly unlikely.

As a former coach, the idea for any season is to be the best you can can be by the end of the season and be able to compete for whatever team goals were set.

In order for FSU to have a “successful” season, I would hope to win nine games preferably two of those to our rivals, Florida and Miami. I would love to be able to compete for the Atlantic division which we have been spoiled as a given these past couple of seasons. I do think that this season, we will be challenged by Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Clemson (all road games). I would also like us to avoid any further off-field distractions. As an alumni, it is embarrassing that it happens. I’ll take that as a byproduct of winning. I would also like to see some of our players get accolades and recognition they deserve (i.e. Jalen Ramsey and Roberto Aguayo) at season’s end. I would love to have the seasons we enjoyed in both ’13 and ’14 but for realistic expectations I will take nine wins, the division, and a respectable bowl game (that streak by far is the most important to uphold).
