Florida State will begin the 2015 season ranked eighth in the USA Today Coaches Poll. This comes after FSU finished sixth last season in the poll after reaching the first College Football Playoff.

The Seminoles are the highest ranked ACC team in the poll with Clemson coming in 12th and Georgia Tech 17th. Six others ACC schools received votes as the poll was released Thursday.

Defending national champion Ohio State topped the poll with 62 of a possible 64 first place votes.

The Buckeyes were trailed by TCU and Alabama, who each earned one first place vote. Baylor and Oregon rounded out the top 5 with Michigan State and Auburn just ahead of FSU. Georgia and USC were behind Florida State to round out the top 10.

This marks the fourth time in six seasons under head coach Jimbo Fisher that the Seminoles will begin the year ranked in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll. The Seminoles began first last season and 12th the season before when they went on to win the final BCS National Championship.
