The New York Rangers (16-12-1) lost to the Ottawa Senators (12-14-2) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.
…i think tonight taught us a lesson that you can’t chalk up a win for this team no matter who they’re playing. The Rangers just don’t have the talent to beat teams (even the lower tier ones) without working hard including a tough forecheck. You can’t expect players such as Boyle, Callahan, Dubinsky and Stepan to carry the load every night. They’re just not that good of players. And with Gaborik not hitting his stride yet (remember 6 of his 8 goals have come in two games) and Frolov giving the Rangers absolutely nothing there are going to be lots of ups and downs this season.
…how is it that Micheletti knew to shoot high on LeClare but the Rangers didn’t?
…that game wouldn’t have been as close as it was without Lundqvist.
…seriously ref? seriously? I understand you miss one trip on Gaborik, but both? Don’t worry it’s not like either missed call effected the outcome of the game. Oh wait, they did.
…tough night for Stepan between not being able to keep the puck in the zone on the power play that led to Ottawa’s first goal and the numerous missed opportunities to bury one.
…the Avery-Christensen-Gaborik line found out it’s a lot harder to score against a team not named the Islanders.
…and the Rangers continue to struggle in the faceoff circle. Right now Messier doesn’t look like the great teacher we all hope he can be.
…speaking of struggling, how about that power play tonight.
…man do I hate Ruutu. Now I know how other teams feel about Avery.
…would love to see Torts send a message to both Frolov and Del Zotto that their play is just not cutting it right now.
…i continue to be impressed with the poise of Sauer.
…three days off then in Ottawa to finish home-and-home with Sens.
