In the wake of a flurry of unsettling tweets, forum and blog posts questioning the state of Eugene Melnyk's finances and its affect on the present and future state of the Ottawa Senators, the organization did release information pertaining to its 2013 development camp.
So, rather than dwell on a potentially negative situation, you can stop spinning that Cure record that you've been listening to and focus on the good by embracing the embarrassment of riches that the Senators have within their system.
Come on people, happy thoughts.
Camp starts tomorrow (Wednesday, July 3rd) and goes every day until Wednesday, July 9th. And yes, for those wondering, all on-ice workouts, including the team scrimmage and 3-on-3 tournament, will be open to the public.
Highlights of the camp include:
• On-ice training every day at the Bell Sensplex, starting Wednesday, July 3, with the exception of the camp’s final day, Tuesday, July 9, which features the 3-on-3 tournament. Wednesday’s on-ice session will begin at 1:30 p.m.
• After 2010’s inaugural evening scrimmage (5-on-5), the event will once again be featured for a fourth consecutive year on Saturday, July 6, at 6:45 p.m. at the Bell Sensplex. The scrimmage will be followed by a meet and greet reception with Senators season-seat owners in the fieldhouse on the lower level of the Sensplex.
• The annual 3-on-3 tournament is set to take place at the Bell Sensplex on Tuesday, July 9, at 9:30 a.m.
It's an impressive list of names, including some familiar names who spent some significant time in the show last season, so make an effort to support the prospects and check out these events. Mikael Wikstrand appears to be the only notable omission.
And in the event you do attend, please do not hesitate to email us a report/summary/pictures/anything.
