Did anyone ever doubt this news was coming?
Today it was announced that Sergei Bobrovsky would be a part of Russia’s World Cup of Hockey team. This news should come as no surprise to those that follow the team closely. Bobrovsky, the former Vezina winner has had lengthy experience representing his home country during the Olympics and World Championships most recently. Famously, he faced off against TJ Oshie in the now classic USA vs. Russia game in the 2014 Olympics, a showdown for the ages.
The concern as an observer is the eventual wear and tear of Bobrovsky. Having faced a slew of injuries this year, you begin to wonder about his long term viability. This obviously isn’t something that should worry many but as the years start to pass by and the injuries pile up, you begin to wonder about Bob.
For now, this should be cause for celebration. Bobrovsky has been selected to represent his country on the highest level. Does anything get better than that?
