The Brewers are 4-5 against the Reds in ’08, and sit in second place, 5 games behind the Cubs for the NL Central crown, but ahead by 2 games in the loss column in the Wild Card race.
Pitching Probables:
Monday, August 4, 6:10 p.m. CT: LHP Manny Parra (9-4, 3.93) vs. RHP Bronson Arroyo (9-8, 5.74)
Tuesday, August 5, 6:10 p.m. CT: RHP Dave Bush (5-9, 4.69) vs. RHP Edinson Volquez (13-4, 2.71)
Wednesday, August 6, 12:10 p.m. CT: RHP Jeff Suppan (6-7, 4.75) vs. RHP Homer Bailey (0-5, 7.55)
Things to look for:
1. Can Parra bounce back from his last start against the Cubs, and win on the road, where he is 4-2, 4.50 in ’08?
2. Can Bush, who was named the permanent 5th starter a few days ago and ending his platoon with Seth McClung, prove he can get a quality start on the road against a team that is struggling?
3. Will Suppan be able to take advantage of facing a winless pitcher, and be in a situation to get the “W” to win the series?
4. How will the Brewers’ predominantly right-handed hitting line-up fare against 3 righties in hitter friendly The Great American Ballpark? Is Prince Fielder salivating…and will Russell Branyan see time to get out of his slump?
