The Crew finishes up their west coast road trip with three games in L.A. against the Dodgers. The Brewers are 1-2 against the Dodgers so far this year, and went 3-3 against them in ’07.
Pitching Probables:
Friday, August 15, 9:40 p.m. CT: LHP Manny Parra (9-5, 4.02) vs. RHP Chad Billingsley (11-9, 3.07)
Saturday, August 16, 9:10 p.m. CT: RHP Dave Bush (7-9, 4.35) vs. RHP Derek Lowe (9-10, 4.11)
Sunday, August 17, 3:10 p.m. CT: RHP Jeff Suppan (8-7, 4.56) vs. LHP Clayton Kershaw (2-3, 3.78)
Things to look for:
1. Can the Crew win these key road games without an appearance by either of their two aces, Ben Sheets and CC Sabathia?
2. Billingsley silenced the Crew’s bats on May 15 at Miller Park, only allowing 1 ER over 7 IP, fanning 5, but walking 4…can the Brewers figure him out earlier this time around?
3. Lowe, on the other hand, allowed 4 ER’s over 6 IP, but fanned 6, back on May 14…can the Crew repeat this effort on Saturday to support Bush?
4. The Crew did not face the southpaw Kershaw earlier this year…can the mostly right-handed line-up figure him out early and capitalize? Righties are hitting .361 against Kershaw in ’08.
5. Can Parra repeat his 1 ER over 6 2/3rds IP that he had against the Dodgers on May 14?
6. The Dodgers did not see either Bush or Suppan in Milwaukee earlier this year…will that be enough of an edge to get either of these two into the 6th inning?
