Series Preview: Cardinals (12-7) @ Brewers (11-7)

The Crew returns home for 7 games, starting with a pair against division rival St. Louis.  The 2-game series marks the first meeting for the two teams at Miller Park, and the second meeting of the year–the Cards won two of three at Busch last week.  The Cards enter the series in second place in the division, with the Brewers’ just percentage points behind in third.
Pitching Probables:
Monday, 4/21, 7:05 p.m. CT: RHP Adam Wainwright (2-1, 2.78) vs. RHP Carlos Villanueva (1-2, 6.19)
Tuesday, 4/22, 12:05 p.m. CT: RHP Kyle Lohse (2-0, 1.48) vs. LHP Manny Parra (1-1, 5.40)
Things to watch for:
1.  Both match-ups have the same pitching duels as last weeks’ Wednesday and Thursday games, and leaving these match-up in tact is a signal that skipper Ned Yost wants to see if either battery has learned from last week; Villanueva gave up 5 ER’s over 4 2/3rds last week and took the loss, allowing 8 hits and 2 walks while fanning none; Parra got a no decision in a game that the Brewers eventually won on Thursday, led by Parra’s 3 ER’s  over 4 IP, and allowing 5 hits, 5 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
2.  Will Yost tinker with the batting order some more this week?  Look for Gabe Kapler to return to the #2 spot with his .394 OBP…and possibly Corey Hart and his .351 OBP to move up into one of the top two spots.
3. Can Prince crack his first home run of ’08 at Miller Park to get that jinx off his back…and did Joe Dillon leave any bats for him in Milwaukee?
