An Angel series sweep of the Athletics in which the Halos give us one final good feeling.
Game 1 – Angels 6, Athletics 5
Game 2 – Angels 4, Athletics 2
Game 3 – Angels 2, Athletics 1
Los Angeles Angels of AWESOMENESS
- I was really hoping for a sweep in this series, but I didn’t really think the Angels could do it. Sometimes it is great to be wrong. Not only do the Halos now have the inside track on finishing in second place (hey, it’s something), but they still have a shot at finishing at the season at .500 or better.
- Torii Hunter? We don’t need no stinking Torii Hunter. We’ve got Peter Bourjos to do all of our home run robbing now, thank you very much.
- Did anyone else notice that Jordan Walden leapfrogged Kevin Jepsen to work the eighth inning of the game on Tuesday? If he is already threatening to take over as the top setup man, can the closer slot really be far behind?
- Hooray! Dan Haren got (some) run support!
Los Angeles Angels of FAIL
- I’ll be perfectly honest, I didn’t see any of these games. I’m stuck in San Jose and the hotel I am in doesn’t get whatever channel the A’s are on. Why is it hotels can’t just get normal cable instead of special “hotel” cable? Retarded.
- Two saves for Fernando Rodney is nice, but not really that nice when he let runners into scoring position in both of his appearances. I am so glad we only have to suffer through four more games of Fraudney as closer. My cardiologist is pretty happy about it to.
- Peter Bourjos, great defender… leadoff hitter? Dear gawd, no. 1-for-14, no walks, please Scioscia, please, move the kid back to the nine-hole before you ruin his confidence.
- It was an intriguing idea for the Halos to start Mark Trumbo in right field. Rumor was that he was going to play there in winter league, maybe the Halos should’ve waited until then based on his work out there. Or maybe they should just hurry up and trade him before everyone realizes that he is overrated as a hitter and has no defensive position.
Halo Hack of the Series
It is only fitting that the final homestand of the season would be capped off by the heroics of the one Halo hitter that hasn’t disappointed this season, Torii Hunter. Big Game Hunter not only hit a home run and score two runs on Tuesday, but also lived up to his nickname by delivering a walk-off base hit to clinch the sweep over the A’s. Thanks, Torii. Thanks for letting us fans go out feeling good.
