Those are great words. Cleveland can take care of business in Detroit this weekend and then proceed to get some rest while the rest of the east beats each other up. Three game sevens sounds pretty good to me as long as Cleveland isn’t one of them.
Actually I’m feeling a bit troubled. As a lifelong Northeast Ohioan I have never been confident about the success of any of my sports teams, and with good reason. I’m 42 and the last professional championship in Cleveland sports happened the year before I was born. But this year I’m really only concerned about the Lakers. I fully expect the Cavs to make the finals without any trouble whatsoever. I’m not used to felling that way. We are supposed to choke, and even when we don’t it’s a hard fought battle all the way with expectations of choking. But there is no way this team will choke. I can’t help but feel weird about this. Will this team let me down and add another punchline to the joke that is Cleveland? No they won’t and all my positivity won’t jinx them.
If we make it to the finals and lose to LA I can accept that. They are a very good team. I won’t like it but it is possible and somewhat acceptable. If we lose to any one of the 7 teams in the east it will be an embarrassment. A part of my brain is telling me that we will lose. It comes with being from Cleveland. And it’s the year to exorcize these demons.
