We still don’t know who the Saints’ kicker will be, though it doesn’t appear like it will be Ryan Succop. What we do know is the Saints have added seven players to their practice squad (edit: the last three names has since been added). Here’s who was added:
NT Lawrence Virgil
WR Brandon Coleman
WR Seantavius Jones
CB Terrence Frederick
CB Trevin Wade
T Tavon Rooks
LB Todd Davis
FS Pierre Warren
G Antoine McClain (played with Raiders and was with Ravens in camp)
TE Nic Jacobs
Rooks is the only draft pick to be added. Wade, McClain and Frederick were eligible veterans, and you’ll remember Wade playing on the roster late last season. McClain is the only player to have played with a different team in training camp (Ravens). The Saints must have liked what they saw from him when they played against him. The rest are all undrafted rookies. Keeping two receivers makes a lot of sense given the fact that the Saints only kept five, including Kenny Stills nursing a pulled quad, so that’s to the benefit of both Jones and Coleman. We’ll wait and see who else the Saints add on their practice squad, but who ends up as the team’s kicker remains the most pressing question.
