This week’s edition of “Share Your Seminole Story” asked readers and followers which member of Florida State’s stellar 2015 football recruiting class they were most excited about.
From the Staff
I’m obviously not alone this week, but the Florida State incoming freshman I’m most excited about seeing is safety Derwin James. James is a remarkable athlete and a big hitter with a nose for the football. James was almost unanimously regarded as one of the 10 best prospects in the country and one who could play right away, but that isn’t why he’s my pick.
As a sports reporter at the Ledger in Lakeland, Florida, I got to cover Derwin’s high school games from the early parts of his career at Auburndale High School to the final years of his career at Haines City High School, which also happens to be where I played and graduated from.
I went to school with and know members of his family and it’s not everyday you see someone from your backyard go on to star at a big time program like Florida State. Like the rest of us, I’m certainly wishing him the best.

@Noled_Out Derwin James. He'll contribute immediately. Like Jalen Ramsey did.

@Noled_Out I agree w/ the guy who said Sweat. We would've repeated with a healthy Josh Sweat. Plus looks like a great kid off the field.

Understandably, Florida State fans like defense…
@Noled_Out Lorenzo Phillips. Can turn into an elite linebacker and make an impact right away.

Not sure if this is for Derwin James or De’Andre Johnson, but it doesn’t seem like you could go wrong either way…
