Over the years, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has been particularly adamant when it comes to making a return to the squared circle. Come just two months ago in November 2018, fans were surprised to see the Heartbreak Kid make a one-time in ring return at the highly controversial Crown Jewel.
That return had many fans speculating if there was another chance for Michaels to embark on a part-time run en route to WrestleMania 35. With talent such as Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles around, there are dream matches written all over that scenario that is certainly WrestleMania worthy.
Considering that WWE heavily relies on part-time talent to fill those stadiums, Michaels would be a huge exception for fans who are growing tired of the trend.
In a rarely given interview with Sky Sports, Michaels put an end to the speculation.
Once again, Michaels remains adamant about staying retired, stating that he’s done his time and that it’s the new talent’s time to make their WrestleMania moment. It is clear that Michaels is fairly happy with his position with the Performance Center.
During the interview, Michaels also provided insight into his move to the Orlando, Florida location to help groom future WWE talent.
Michaels’ intent to “stay behind the camera” looks to pay off with the continued success of NXT and the recent opening of the UK Performance Center. His passion to coach the newer talent is extremely obvious. With a career such as Michaels’, he is a perfect asset to the Performance Center and the NXT brand.
In retrospect, Michaels has had an incredible career. The first Grand Slam Champion had had a multitude of classic matches that have stood the test of time. His number of Championships adds even more to the list of accomplishments. Michaels is considered as one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. He is “Mr. WrestleMania” after all.
