The C's have finally met face-to-face with Rasheed Wallace… but they're not the only contenders on the list:
Garnett, long a Wallace admirer, has reportedly jumped into the
process as a passionate recruiter – clearly stirred by what the
seven-foot deep shooter, who is also a capable defender, would bring to
the Celtics mix.
The sit-down was said to be part of a series of meetings being set
up with all of the teams interested in signing the free agent power
forward/center. San Antonio and Cleveland — which introduced Shaquille O’Neal as its latest addition today — were also expected to meet with Wallace today.
Also in that link… how the C's would be limited to the $1.9 million veteran minimum if they ink Sheed to the full MLE. $1.9 million ain't bad… so maybe they can get some quality out of that.
My guess is that Danny hopes landing Sheed would make quality veterans see the Celtics as their best chance to win a ring… thus attracting guys like Grant Hill or Stephon Marbury to take the minimum and come to Boston.
It's a hell of a gamble.
