Sheets K’s can’t save a bad offense

Ben Sheets had a season high 11 strikeouts against the Rockies on Wednesday night but it wasn’t enough in an 8-3 Brewers’ loss. Sheets went six innings and gave up three runs to go along with all the strikeouts.
Bill Hall got the lead early for the Crew with a second inning home run. After that, the offense went missing. The Rockies took a 4-1 lead going into the bottom of the seventh when the bats were found and the Brewers rallied to cut the lead to 4-3.
Guillermo Mota came on for the eighth and that’s when the game went to hell. Mota got the first two outs with little problem. The third out was much more difficult. Mota gave up four runs, including two home runs to put the game out of reach for the Rockies.
The Brewers lost another game on the Cubs but stayed only a half game behind the Cards since they lost to the Phillies. Dave Bush takes the mound in the series finale today as the Crew looks for a split.
