It’s been three years since Langston Galloway last suited up in a Westchester Knicks uniform. Galloway scored his final basket at the Westchester County Center in 2015. Even though it’s been a while since he’s donned the Dub Knicks’ blue and orange, it might be time to see the former Westchester guard return to the Westchester County Center, so that the team can honor him with a potential jersey retirement.
Speaking exclusively with KnicksJournal.com, the Pistons guard talked about his journey from an undrafted player in the -D-League to earning a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. Langston Galloway spoke on what the “MR. UnDrafted” phrase means to him and what the opportunity meant to him to stay in the states and hone and develop his skills against top competition in the NBA’s minor league.
After starting out his career in Westchester and experiencing the success he’s had following his call-up, Galloway thinks it would be an honor being the team’s first retired number.
“That would be amazing,” the 26 year old said. “Just an honor in itself to know that’s where I started my career at. I continued to work hard and [showcased] what I can do to prove that I belong [in the NBA]. I would love to see that and hopefully it will happen.”
If the Westchester Knicks choose to honor a former player in the near future, Galloway seems like the right fit. He had success in his short time in Westchester before becoming the team’s first-ever call-up. He will always be associated with Westchester since he started his career in White Plains and retiring his number would be the perfect way to recognize his accomplishments.
