After a tight first half… the Celtics pulled away in the 3rd quarter before watching their 24 point lead get cut to 8. The starters then returned and put the dagger in the Pacers and win 114-96.
There, that's your generic recap to explain this game. Now let me gush.
Rajon Rondo is a killer!! He's wanted on 15 counts of murder tonight because he killed the Pacers. Every single one of them. 16 points, 13 rebounds, 17 assists (a career high). That dagger I just mentioned? It came in the form of what felt like a dozen alley-oops to Kevin Garnett… who, oh-by-the-way had 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
Here's the quote of the night on Rondo… courtesy of KG postgame:
"He was amazing. It seemed like there was like 3 Rondo's out there tonight. I looked up and he's passing the ball to P… it came off the rim and he was rebounding it. Then all of a sudden I got back on defense and he had beat me back. And then, Granger went to drive and he was there on the strip. And we got loose and threw it up for a lay up and HE GOT THE LAY UP. I sort of had to turn around and say 'how many?? what is this boy…??' He was everywhere tonight, straight up. (turning to Pierce) Didn't it feel like that? I just call it like I see it, dog."
Ray Allen was equally deadly tonight 31 points on 11-18 shooting (6-9 3pt). He's unconscious. Paul Pierce and Kendrick Perkins each chipped in with 16 points. Perk had 10 boards.
