The Philadelphia 76ers could be in the market for another point guard with the uncertainty of Tony Wroten’s torn ACL. According to Shams Charania of RealGM, the Sixers, Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets are interested in D-League point guard Gary Talton.
Talton is the D-League’s assists leader dishing out 10.2 assists per game and having 13 games of 10 or more assists this season. This season, he has spent time between the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Fort Wayne Mad Ants, who he is currently with.
In terms of the Sixers, they currently have a full roster as they signed Larry Drew II to another 10-day pact on Monday. Talton went to the University of Illinois at Chicago and as a senior; he averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 34.4 minutes per game.
The 24-year-old went undrafted in the 2013 NBA Draft and had a few free-agent workouts for teams such as the Memphis Grizzlies. Earlier this season, Talton had two 20-assist games both with Rio Grande Valley. Finally, on January 24 with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, he scored 13 points, dished out 10 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds in a win.
