The Sixers finally got their guy to run the show.
The Sixers have signed point guard Jerryd Bayless to a three-year, $27 million deal. So far this free agency so many teams have overpaid for players, but I don’t think the Sixers overpaid for Bayless. The 27-year-old guard has bounced around the league a bit, but not because he can’t play. It’s worth noting Colangelo acquired Bayless a few years ago in Toronto. Last season Bayless scored 10.4 points per game and shot over 43% from the woods.
This was a very nice pickup for the Sixers, but I don’t think they’re quite done. With all the money in the world and still a ton of free agents left out there, I’m sure Brian Colangelo has more tricks up his sleeve. However, If they don’t sign another point guard, you can count on Bayless getting the starting spot next year. On a contending team, Bayless would be a very solid 6th man.
All in all, this was a very smart move by Colangelo. We’ll keep you updated on any other moves the Sixers make.
