After acquiring the likes of JaVale McGee earlier today, the Sixers decided to make another trade this time involving one of their rookies.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Sixers traded guard K.J. McDaniels to the Houston Rockets for point guard Isaiah Canaan and a second-round pick. McDaniels, as a rookie for the Sixers, provided fans with many amazing dunks showing his potential and athleticism.
This season, he averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 0.8 steals in 25.4 minutes per game. McDaniels had the opportunity to start for Philadelphia as he started in 15 games. The rookie has a lot of potential but bet on himself by signing a one-year deal as a second-round pick which is unheard of. With the Rockets, McDaniels should flourish in their high-tempo offense and might end up being there after this season.
On the other hand, the Sixers will be getting a scoring point guard in Isaiah Canaan. Canaan, who was a second round pick of the Rockets in the 2013 NBA Draft spent time with Houston and in the NBA D-League with their affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. This season with the Rockets, he is averaging 6.2 points and shooting 38.1 percent from three-point range in 14.8 minutes per game.
Also this season, he has spent time in the D-League and is averaging 21.o points, 3.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in 35.9 minutes per game. What the Sixers get with Canaan is a prolific three-point shooter and if he makes an impact like Robert Covington has this season, then they have found a gem.
