Returning to Brooklyn next month is the FanDuel Legends Classic, which is set to invade Barclays Center for its Championship Rounds between November 23 and 24. The early-season college basketball tournament will again feature four of the best schools in the country, with LSU, Marquette, NC State and Arizona State, each slated to battle over the two-day affair.
Like each year, many of college basketball’s most revered players will participate in the action, and 2015’s tournament will be highlighted by top-ranked recruit, projected 2016 NBA Draft No. 1 pick and LSU freshman Ben Simmons. He’ll meet Marquette freshman and perceived Top-10 NBA Draft pick Henry Ellenson in the Semifinals on November 23.
With anticipation building for the ninth annual installment of the tournament, fans searching for tickets over both nights in Brooklyn can find them for as low as $15 on the primary market. November 23 FanDuel Legends Classic tickets will honor games between LSU and Marquette starting at 7 p.m. and NC State and Arizona State at 9 p.m. November 24 FanDuel Legends Classic tickets grant access to the third place and championship games the following night.
The tournament is just one of several prominent features at Barclays Center this year. In addition to hosting the Legends Classic and NBA’s Brooklyn Nets since 2012, the billion-dollar venue has also welcomed the NHL’s New York Islanders in their first season away from Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. With the Nets looking to make a fourth consecutive playoff appearance (they’ve done so in each year at Barclays) and the Islanders expected to again reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs under the leadership of captain John Tavares, a new, winning culture is alive and well in the heart of Kings County.
Of course, several regional games will precede the fun in Brooklyn during the week prior to the Championship Rounds. Additional teams that will compete in this year’s tournament include South Alabama, IUPUI, Kennesaw State and Belmont. The tournament officially starts November 13 at BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee while PNC Arena in Raleigh, Maravich Center in Baton Rouge and Tempe’s Wells Fargo Arena also serve as hosting sites.
The four regional teams will compete in the Kennesaw Subregional at KSU Conventional Center in Georgia during the Championship Rounds. November 23 will see Belmont face South Alabama followed by IUPUI and Kennesaw State. The consolation game tips off at 3:30 p.m. on November 24 before the championship game begins at 5:30 p.m.
