Slumping Sox Lose Again to Twins

The Red Sox sent Lackey to the mound in hopes of at least sweeping the series with the Twins.  The Sox went from being red hot in April to being ice cold in May.  Lackey would pitch well, but an error would take his outing off course and leave him looking at a loss.

Lackey started off well and the team gave him an early lead.  The Sox scored their first run in the 3rd inning when Pedey hit an RBI single to score Victorino.  They grabbed another run in the 4th when Stephen Drew hit an RBI single to score Nava.  Sox 2-0.  Lackey had his first hiccup in the 5th when he gave up an RBI double to Hicks.  Sox 2-1.  It was the 6th when everything fell apart for the Sox and for Lackey.  Lackey got what should have been a inning ending double play, however he threw the ball into centerfield and the game was tied.  With one out, Doumit hit a fly ball to the outfield.  Shane Victorino made a tremendous throw to the plate, but Morneau was called safe.  Sox 2-3.  Then Lackey gave up a 2 run HR to Arcia to make a bad inning even worse.  Sox 2-5.  Ugh.  The Sox were able to get one of those runs back in the 6th when Nap doubled and then Nava hit an RBI single to bring him home.  Sox 3-5.  Unfortunately that would be the only run the Sox would be able to get in late innings and they fell to the Sox.

In the last week, the Sox have lost 6 out of 7 and now are in a three way tie for 1st place in the AL East.  No bueno.
