It looks like Brad Stevens will get to tinker with his lineups another game, because Marcus Smart will probably miss tomorrow night’s game against Milwaukee.
“I felt pretty good today out there,” said Smart, who engaged in his first practice activities since the injury flared last Tuesday. “I was responding to treatment, the orthotics that I got and everything. They just wanted to make sure — better safe than sorry. Give it another day to rest and try to get better than what I am today.”
Smart, who has missed the past two games, said he doesn’t want to aggravate the injury and extend his absence.
“It’s a ligament that’s sprained, so it’s kind of hard to get around that,” said Smart. “You’ve kind of got to let it do its job and run its course.”
The only thing they can do at this point is wait. If Thomas is the starter again, so be it… though as we discussed in the new Rainin’ J’s podcast… I’d still prefer Thomas off the bench. Once Smart does return, he should slide back into his starting role.. with a revamped frontcourt and rotation.
