Smyth Would Ruin Rangers Chemistry

105

Elliot Friedman at CBC Sports has this reaction from an anonymous GM on the Rangers possible interest in the Oilers’ Ryan Smyth…

“That team has great chemistry. They’re greater than the sum of their parts, a true team where players accept their roles. He’ll force roles to change because of where you need to use him. It doesn’t always work.”

…someone quickly put this quote in front of Sather before the deadline. While I do think the Rangers need another scorer, I’d hate to ruin the chemistry to get one. Stay the course Glen, stay the course.

…btw, how ridiculously awesome is it to hear another GM talk about our Rangers like that? Never thought I’d ever hear the Blueshirts described that way.

Friedman also reports that Rangers wanted Cody Almond in the Erik Christensen deal, but Minnesota held firm.

Almond has one goal in eight games with the Wild this season. The Rangers received Casey Wellman from the Wild.
