NEW YORK -(October 28, 2010) — SNY, the new home of the UConn Huskies football and men’s basketball programs, – announced on Thursday that Charter has added the network in Northeast Connecticut. Charter will launch SNY on Monday, November 1 on channel 33. SNY is now fully distributed throughout Connecticut and is available to all cable, satellite and telecom households in the state.

SNY annually features 300+ hours of UConn programming – including 120 hours of Huskies game coverage – with unprecedented access to UConn coaches and players. SNY has significantly expanded its UConn sports coverage throughout its sports news and entertainment programming, including its critically acclaimed SportsNite show – which airs Monday-Sunday at 10pm, 1am and throughout the morning.

“The University of Connecticut is pleased that SNY will now be carried on Charter Northeast,” says UConn Director of Athletics Jeffrey Hathaway. “This was obviously a critical geographical area for us as Charter services our Storrs campus and surrounding communities. We express our appreciation to the management of both SNY and Charter Communications for all their hard work in making this possible, so that Husky fans in northeastern Connecticut can enjoy all of the UConn games and additional programming on SNY. We also thank the affected Charter customers for their patience and continued support while this situation was being resolved.

“We are very happy that SNY is now available on 100% of the cable television systems that service our state and excited that UConn programming on SNY is reaching more than 12 million homes nationally.”

“We are pleased to be partnering with Charter across the state of Connecticut to provide unprecedented access and coverage of the UConn Huskies,” said Steve Raab, President of SNY.

Charter customers in Northeast Connecticut will now receive SNY’s exclusive, comprehensive coverage of the Huskies football team, including the following programming: live games, head coach Randy Edsall’s weekly press conference, re-broadcasts of available games and Huskies Power House — a 60-minute cut-down version of games that are available.

Charter’s addition of SNY comes in time for the network’s in-depth, exclusive men’s basketball coverage of the Huskies’ 2010-11 season – which will tip-off on Friday, November 1st when Jim Calhoun’s Huskies play Stony Brook University at 7:00 p.m. SNY’s exclusive men’s basketball schedule will feature conference matchups such as UConn vs. Notre Dame, UConn vs. Georgetown, UConn vs. Louisville and UConn vs. Rutgers. In addition, Huskies fans can keep tabs on their rivals all season long as SNY will showcase more than 100 live BIG EAST basketball games. Throughout the season, SNY’s all-access pass to the Huskies will feature at least 13 UConn Men’s basketball contests – which comprises more than 40% of the entire men’s basketball schedule – and at least one women’s basketball game.

SNY will also feature men’s head basketball coach Jim Calhoun and women’s head basketball coach Geno Auriemma on the network’s signature series SNY Spotlight. This exclusive signature series features in-depth interviews with the Tri-State Area’s most influential leaders in sports and entertainment. Hosted by SNY’s Gary Apple, this critically acclaimed series is renowned for covering a wide range of topics with prominent guests.

In addition to the network’s live basketball games – and SNY’s expanded coverage throughout its sports news and entertainment programming – Huskies’ fans will also receive the following SNY programming dedicated to the UConn men’s basketball program: a comprehensive season preview special; in-depth pregame, halftime and postgame shows for select games and reairs of every game aired on SNY.

SNY is the official television home of the New York Mets, Jets and the BIG EAST Conference.
