As we get closer to the start of the season you may be taking a closer look around the Big Ten to see how this conference is going to shape out. Ohio State is my team to beat in 2014, and Michigan State is right there in the hunt as defending champion. We know Penn State is ineligible, but I think a 10-win season is a high ceiling that is not exactly at Sistine Chapel height. I cannot figure out what I am supposed to think about Michigan this season. In the west division it looks like Wisconsin should be the division frontrunner but Nebraska could find a way to Indianapolis if some pieces come together.
But what about Iowa?
There may be no less interesting team that sparks my interest around the country the way Iowa does. Iowa pops up every few years to make a run in the Big Ten and I am starting to think that could be the case this season. They will do so without any dazzle, and they will be just fine with that.
On College Football Talk I got a chance to dive into the Hawkeyes a little bit as our No. 25 team in our preseason top 25 countdown. I shared a few more thoughts on Iowa over on No 2-Minute Warning as well. What do you think about Iowa this season? Could they make a run to Indianapolis? In a one-game situation, could they upset Ohio State or Michigan State? Do you still have nightmares about Iowa games of Penn State’s past?
