It seems weird to type this, but through two games of the Pirates/Cardinals series, the Pirates have actually out-pitched and out-played the Cards despite splitting the first two games. It might be hard to keep that trend up for a third game with Adam Wainwright, one of the best in the NL, taking the ball for the Cardinals today, but Paul Maholm should at least give the Pirates a chance and for whatever reason so far in 2010, the Pirates have found a way to win most of the games their starters have done that.

In a 2-0 win, pitchers and timely hitting are huge, so last night’s Clementes are Jeff Karstens (six shutout innings) and Jason Jaramillo (three hits and an RBI). Since the Cards never scored, there are no Cangelosi points to be found on the pitching side, which means that Garrett Jones and Bobby Crosby, who were a combined 0-for-8, are our two Cangelosis. Both of these caused a lot of consternation last night; Karstens was mostly a Cangelosi pick (except for jac8) and two of our contestants pulled a rare double-reverse, putting Jones in for Clemente and Karstens in for Cangelosi and earning a -2.
