Sure, the Buckeyes lost to an SEC team in the sweet 16 (Welcome to the club, Roy Williams).
And sure, the SEC owned the B1G on January 1 (but not on the 4th!).
But it wasn’t due to the “typical” reason. Nope, in spite of all of the commentators who continue to hound on “SEC Speed” and “guys from the south are just faster” (inane though that may be), B1G fans now have evidence to the contrary.
On Saturday, both the men’s and women’s Buckeye track teams helped the conference win the first ever SEC/Big Ten challenge in Starkville Mississippi. You read that right- The conference went down south and won in enemy territory. Would make another Ohioan proud, I’m sure.
The B1G men’s team won 399- 337, led by Thomas Murdaugh’s victory in the 400. The conference women won 379-349, with Christina Manning and Leticia Wright finishing first and second in the 100 m hurdles, and Tori Brink carrying the day in the steeple event.
B-1-G! B-1-G! B-1-G!
