So, Wait, Adam Wainwright Isn’t Done In 2015?

12

I hope this Cardinals team has a camera crew documenting this season.

As if the Cardinals week hasn’t been newsworthy enough, today we learn that staff ace Adam Wainwright – long thought out until spring training ’16 – is eyeing a comeback before the end of the ’15 season.

For reals? So says The Commish via STLToday:

“It’s progressing nicely,” said Wainwright, who went down April 25 in Milwaukee while taking the first steps out of the batter’s box after hitting a pop foul.

But is he progressing so quickly that there’s a chance he actually could pitch in September or October? “Absolutely,” he said.

Now before we all take a collective cat nap and have dreams of 2006 and the demination of Carlos Beltran’s knees, let’s remember that Wain-O was talking a big game in 2011 too… right?

Wainwright had offered that same prediction four years ago when he was recovering from elbow surgery, and he didn’t pitch.

“There’s more of a chance here,” he said.

ORLY.

Maybe this happens. Probably won’t. But it’s a ray of sunshine in what has literally and figuratively been a stormy week in St. Louis.

Or maybe the Cardinals are doubling down on throwing us off the scent of this Rosenthal situation. Either way, let’s go ahead and remember that Wainwright can pitch out of the bullpen if needed:
