On this Father’s Day, it’s another wet, rainy, gloomy day, but we get to spend time with dad and that’s what I’m going to do today.
Let’s do some links while I can.
One story I noticed late last night was this one from Newsday’s Jennifer Sinco Kelleher and Patrick Whittle on some drunks at Bethpage Black taunting golfers, Tiger Woods among them during the U.S. Open. Yeah, it was a long day, but there’s no need to get drunk.
Neil Best noticed that some fans started booing the hecklers as they became rowdy. Neil says drunks are only doing what they normally do, start being obnoxious.
Neil has a story of what it’s like in the NBC Sports production truck at Bethpage Black.
Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News feels HBO should put Joe Buck Live out of its misery. After one show, Bob?
Phil Mushnick of the New York Post says announcers embellish too much.
Phil Sheridan of the Philadelphia Inquirer says the late Gary Papa handled his sports anchoring with dignity and class.
Gary D’Amato of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says the local NBC affiliate will air the U.S. Open in its entirety today after joining coverage late on Saturday due to a programming conflict.
Bob Wolfley gets the station’s explanation (scroll down).
The Sports Media Watch has its weekend ratings predictions.
Sox & Dawgs has video of NESN using Boston band Letters to Cleo’s Demon Rock in its video montage last night. The always lovely Kay Hanley who was the lead singer was very happy to be mentioned on NESN.
That’s it for now. I have to head up to Boston. I should be back later with some more stuff.
