Ok, we have enough links to warrant an update this evening. The Friday mega-update will take place late as I’ll be away from the computer tomorrow.
Let’s give you a few links tonight.
First, in his Medium Well blog in the Baltimore Sun, Ray Frager provides his choices of what to watch this weekend.
Throughout TBS’ coverage, I have read appeals for Charles Barkley to join the studio. Well, they’re going to get their wish. Ben Grossman of Broadcasting & Cable magazine writes that Barkley will be on TBS during Game 3 in Denver to promote the NBA tip off on October 30.
Mark Newman of MLB.com gives fans suggestions on the many ways to catch the LCS and TBS Hot Corner is mentioned with shout outs to Heather Catlin and the Tool, Matt Dagostino. No mention of Kelly Cross. That has to be fixed.
Tim Tucker of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution goes inside the TBS studio and talks with Cal Ripken and Frank Thomas about their maiden voyage on TV.
Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated talks with Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn of TBS.
Could former Cubs analyst Steve Stone become the team’s General Manager? Yes, if Lou Weisbach buys the team. Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune explains.
Neil Best of Newsday blogs that Kim Jones of the YES Network will join Chris Carlin on WFAN for the 5 -6 a.m. hour starting tomorrow. Just one hour?
I’ll add Judd Zulgad to the mix tonight. His story will be in tomorrow’s edition of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, but I’ll link to it now. He writes that the Minnesota Timberwolves have hired Alan Horton as the team’s radio voice replacing Brian Sieman who’s now with the LA Clippers.
A good enterprise story from the Sports Media Watch blog. Paulsen noting that a mention in Richard Sandomir’s story in the New York Times about ESPN getting the rights to the Masters. Sandomir said that USA Network decided this summer not to bid for the Masters despite airing the tournament since 1982 and will most likely allow its contract with the US Tennis Association to broadcast the US Open to expire after next year. That means ESPN and the Tennis Channel could swoop it up.
That’s it for now. I’ll be back with another possible post on TBS Hot Corner and certainly again tomorrow with your mega-update.
