Some Sunday Afternoon Links

I’ll give you some links since going to work on this Sunday went up in smoke (and believe me, that’s not a bad thing).

Starting with the Sox & Dawgs blog, it has the video of a fighter getting kicked in the nuts during last night’s UFC 91 card. Ouch.

Busted Coverage updates you on what happened with the original Florida State cowgirls (besides Jenn Sterger). And BC has pictures of last night’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show featuring the extremely hot Croatian sensation Adriana Lima.

Lynn Zinser of the New York Times says the NFL and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority both say it would be logistically impossible to hold the NFC and AFC Championships on the same day if both the Giants and Jets make it and host both games. In addition, the networks would not like it either.

Alan Pergament of the Buffalo News has ESPN’s Ron Jaworski enjoying his expanded role on Monday Night Football.

Stuart Mandel of Sports Illustrated says ESPN and Fox are in a bidding war for the Bowl Championship Series. And we should know on Monday where the BCS will land, if it will stay on Fox or move to ESPN.

Ken Schott of the Schenectady Gazette says NASCAR did not appreciate being bumped from ABC’s schedule last Sunday.

Anthony Crupi of Brandweek says ad sales for sports in the fourth quarter are losing momentum.

Earlier today, I linked to Neil Best’s story on the 40th anniversary of the Heidi Game. Now here’s Ray Buck from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram with a story of his own.

Larry Bohannan of The Desert Sun (CA) writes that cable is getting more prominent in televised sports.

Matt Schoch of the Purt Huron (MI) Times Herald talks with Michigan native Mike Emrick about his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame last week.

The Crookston (MN) Times says Fox Sports Minnesota has announced the location and games for its third annual Hockey Day in Minnesota.

Tim Sassone of the Chicago Daily Herald does not understand why Comcast SportsNet Chicago let go of popular reporter Kerry Sanders.

Roch Kubatko of MASN.com writes that CBS Radio is shooting down rumors that Anita Marks is leaving Baltimore station Sports Radio 105.7 FM (scroll down).

Mike Tankersley of the Montgomery (AL) Advertiser says a local high school student spent time with a local sports radio morning show this past week.

David Moulton writes in the Naples (FL) News about his experiences spotting for Gary Danielson every Saturday for the SEC on CBS.

Here’s an interview that Multichannel News’ R. Thomas Umstead conducted with NESN president Sean McGrail.

There you have it. The next post today should be on the Sunday NFL pregame shows.
