Someone Take the Shovel From Weslye Saunders

USC Gamecocks Tight End Weslye Saunders decided to defend himself on 107.5 FM The Game this afternoon.  Before you say good for him, read below and know the reason for his call and having this read on his behalf is many USC fans have questioned his decision-making and actions.  Some have called for him to be kicked off the team as enough is enough.  You can decide for yourself but know that the “Whitney Issue” and “Agent Contact” is still being investigated so yield from throwing the first stone until all the facts are provided.

Here is his statement and credit goes to GamecockCentral for this…

“I love the university and my coaches. Allegations of this being all about me and being a me-first guy and trying to bring the team down are false. Coach Spurrier and I are on good terms. We did have a misunderstanding, but that’s all cleared up now. I couldn’t have more respect for Steve Spurrier or Eric Hyman. I understand perception is reality and people will see what they want to from the outside. But what they see is not the case on the inside.”

It is important to note according to GamecockCentral that “NCAA rules prohibited 107.5 FM The Game from interviewing Saunders on the air in a spontaneous fashion since it wasn’t a pre-arranged interview or didn’t occur after an athletic contest.”

I am not sure about you but this is simply amazing.  This kid needs to shut up.  No more talking from you or your father.  Quit making this worse or should I say throwing gas on the fire.

For anyone who reads this blog knows we have always supported Weslye on the field but his off-the-field actions are dumb.  Dumb is the easy word to use for his actions without a bad word in there.

This blog has remained silent on this issue until today.  We want all the facts before we start chewing on them as talking “what if’s” is foolish plus we are not mainstream beat writers..we are bloggers.

The reason for this post is to share his statement.  Yes – he is a good person and a good TE who will be in the NFL next year.  What he needs to do is be quiet and let the investigation run its course.  Doing this today was yet again a dumb move.

I wish I was the fly on the wall when Spurrier learned of this.  Forget visor throw, more like visor ripped into pieces.  I know Spurrier and Hyman, no matter how nice Saunders words were, wished he would shut his mouth about the issues.

Saunders is digging this “hole” deeper and deeper.  Take the shovel away from him as he is making it worse….
