Soul Out-muscle Gladiators in Primetime Matchup

Philadelphia PA:  After a 70-32 blowout victory against Portland last Sunday, the Soul returned to the Wells Fargo Center in Primetime, as they faced long-time rival Cleveland Gladiators, which aired on the CBS Sports Network. As expected, both teams brought to the field tons of physicality and a heightened level of intensity. After a slow first half and two missed extra-points, the Soul found themselves down 28-26.

Luckily the missed PAT’s would not come back to haunt the team as the offense came out firing in the third and never looked back, for the remainder of the game. Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh made sure every one of his targets would find the end-zone, as he recorded five touch-down passes to Reynolds (twice), McDaniel, Kauleinamoku, and Duvalt respectively.

The momentum really seemed to swing in favor of the Soul, when wide-receiver Ryan McDaniel was blind-sided by a dirty hit from Gladiators defensive-back Demarcus Robinson at  the 13:25 mark of the 4th quarter, much to the displeasure of the fans, team, and coach Dolezel, who were infuriated. The officials wasted no time, as they ejected Robinson from the game and the Soul were granted a fresh set of downs. They would rally around their shooken up teammate and score moments after the ugly hit.

The Soul would go on to score six touchdowns in the second half including 14 unanswered points. Defensive-back Tracy Belton would put the dagger in the Gladiators as he picked off Arvel Nelson moments after the one minute warning. The team would get the ball with forty-five seconds remaining and ran out the clock to end the game. With the win the Soul improves to 3-1 on the season and will play their next game on the road in LA against the Kiss on May 1st at 10PM. Live coverage of the game will be aired on ESPN3 and 97.5 the Fanatic.
