Soul Weather Struggling Storm in 47-17 Victory

Philadelphia – Nine days after their 56-33 victory over the LA Kiss, the Soul returned to the Wells Fargo Center, under the lights in a prime-time Monday night match-up, against the Tampa Bay Storm.  The team was looking to extend their current winning streak to four games and the Storm were looking to get their first win of the season. 2015 Arena League MVP, quarterback Dan Radabaugh, came into the game leading the league with 32 touchdown passes and would increase that stat to 35, as he connected with the always reliable, wide-receiver, Shaun Kauleinamoku twice, and found defensive linebacker, Jake Metz, in the back of the end-zone for a rare touch down as time expired in the first half.

After a slow start, the Soul found themselves trailing the Storm 10-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. The team would then go on to score twenty unanswered points in the 2nd quarter, to take a 26-10 lead at the half. Both teams would go three and out on their opening drives of the 3rd quarter. On the Soul’s second drive, Dan Radabaugh would fumble the football on the team’s 14 yard-line as he was sacked, and Tampa’s defensive-linebacker, David Washington, would recover the loose ball. With excellent field position, the Storm would score on their second attempt to the end-zone, as quarterback Jonathan Bane connected with wide-receiver Phillip Barnett, to cut the Souls lead to nine. The Soul would eat up the rest of the clock on their ensuing drive, and cap it off with a touch-down, as Radabaugh found SK (Shaun Kauleinamoku) in the back of the end-zone with four seconds to play in the 3rd quarter, to put the team up 33-17.

Things did not get any easier for the struggling Storm, as they would turn the ball over on the third play of their first drive. Bane’s pass landed right into the hands of the Soul’s DB, James Romain, who would return the pick six for 47 yards, increasing the Soul’s lead to 40-17. The Storm’s next possession resulted in a turnover on downs, due to solid defense by the Soul. With just over 8 minutes to go on their ensuing drive, Radabaugh would find SK one more time to put the team up by thirty. That would be all for Dan, as coach Dolezel decided it was time to give his star QB a break, as the game was pretty much in the bag, and did not want to risk potential injury. Back-up QB, Luke Collins would come into the game on the team’s final drive with just 2:49 to go in regulation. The Soul ran the clock out and defeated the Strom by a final of 47-17, increasing their winning streak to four, and improved to 5-1 on the season. They are now in second place in the American Conference, behind the undefeated (6-0) Orlando Predators.
