Washington Wizards: A

(Round 1- Otto Porter) (Round 2- Glen Rice Jr.)

The Wizards happened to find the perfect fit with the number 3 selection: A local guy who happens to play the position the team needs most. Otto Porter can step in day one and start in Washington. Glen Rice Jr. is an immensely talented player who won the D League championship and was named MVP last year. He can score the basketball, and he’ll be a good help off the bench.

Charlotte Bobcats: B-

(Round 1- Cody Zeller)

I personally thought that Zeller was the right pick for the Bobcats, but the 4th overall pick is certainly a reach, especially when Ben McLemore and Nerlens Noel were still on the board. This pick could have been an A if Charlotte had accepted a previously rumored trade with Minnesota involving Derrick Williams, the 9 and the 26. Zeller would have been a great pick, value included, if taken around 9. He’s got upside and athleticism, so for Charlotte’s sake, I hope he pans out.

Orlando Magic- A

(Round 1- Victor Oladipo) (Round 2- Romero Osby)

Oladipo was the closest player to a sure thing in this draft. Should he develop more of an offensive game, you’ve got an All-Star caliber player on your hands. If he doesn’t, Oladipo is a lockdown defender capable of shutting down the opponents best scorer. Think Tony Allen, at worst. Not a very low floor. Great pick here. And with their second round pick, Orlando nabbed a 3 or stretch 4 that can be physical and get you some points. Fine job by Orlando.

Atlanta Hawks: C+

(Round 1- Lucas Nogueira, Dennis Schroeder) (Round 2- Mike Muscala, Raul Neto)

Both Lucas Nogueira and Dennis Schroeder could both become legitimate NBA Starters in the future. Problem is, Atlanta is losing a lot of players and needs guys who can step up now. Mike Muscala may not have a ton of upside, but he can play in the NBA right now. The Hawks may have grabbed themselves two guys who will be great down the road, but it certainly won’t help them too much next season. Neto, a Brazilian like Nogueria, is a good ballplayer but won’t come over to the NBA this year.

Miami Heat: B

(Round 2, James Ennis)

Second round picks are seldom truly relevant. Lebron plays around 40 minutes per game, so we likely won’t see too much of Mr. Ennis. But when he is in the game, he can provide some buckets if called upon.
