Sox Continue The Losing Ways to the Os

The Red Sox and Felix Doubront took on the Orioles last night and once again were unable to get a win against the birds.  Felix Doubront didn’t pitch badly, but he still ended up getting himself his 10th loss of the season.

Doubront gave up his first run in the 2nd inning when Machado hit an RBI single to score Davis.  Jacoby Ellsbury made himself a great throw out in center field and Reynolds ended up being thrown out at 3rd.  In the 4th inning, Doubront gave up a 2 run HR to Davis to have the Orioles leading 3-0.  In the top of the 5th, Salty helped the Sox climb back into the game by hitting his 25th HR of the season.  Sox 2-3. In the top of the 6th, the Sox tied the game up when Cody Ross hit what should have been an out, but Davis dropped the ball.  Ellsbury scored and the game was tied.  Sox 3-3.  Unfortunately the game did not stay tied for long.  In the 7th, Doubront gave up a solo HR to Machado to give the O’s a 4-3 lead.  Doubront was done after 7 innings.  Doubront gave up 4 runs, but he also struck out 10 batters and only walked one.  Tazawa was out in the 8th and pitched himself a scoreless 1-2-3 inning.  The Sox didn’t have one last rally in them and fell to the O’s once again.

The Sox lost.  The O’s won.  The Yankees lost.  So even if we can’t play spoiler to the O’s, maybe just maybe we can play spoiler to the Yankees as they are desperately trying to hang on to the AL East.
