The Red Sox fell victim to some great defense by the A’s which included an amazing double play, Ortiz being gunned down at the plate and a great catch on Beltre’s fly ball in the ninth. All of these helped the A’s get the win after being out-hit 12-6.
Wake had a solid start and the pen pitched pretty well but the Red Sox were unlucky in this one. Bowden gave up a walk-off single in the 10th when he came in with runners on first and second.
