<![CDATA[The Red Sox were able to get to Rangers pitching early again today and John Lackey continued to show that he is a dominate force in our rotation. The Sox are currently above .500 for the first time since that first series in April.
The Red Sox spotted Lackey three runs before he even took the mound. The Rangers had Pedey on 3rd with one out and they decided to intentionally walk David Ortiz. That turned out to be poor choice as Mike Napoli made them pay by hitting an RBI double to score to Pedey. Sox 1-0. AJ Pierzynski finished the inning off by hitting a 2 run RBI single to score Papi and Napoli. Sox 3-0. The Sox grabbed another run in the 2nd when Victorino hit a sac grounder to score Jackie Bradley Jr. Sox 4-0. John Lackey was pitching a dominant outing on the other side and only had one inning where he really struggled. In the 4th Lackey gave up a solo HR to Choo and then gave up a couple more singles, but he was able to stop them from scoring. Sox 4-1.
The game stayed 4-1 until the 7th inning when Pedroia hit a solo HR to have the Sox up 5-1. Lackey took to the mound in the 7th inning and ended up giving up his 2nd and final run of his outing. Lackey gave up an RBI double to Moreland. Sox 5-2. Lackey finished out the inning and was done for the night. His pitching line was 105 pitches, 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 BB and 9 Ks. Andrew Miller pitched a sharp scoreless 8th inning and then Koji Uehara came out and finished off the 9th inning. The Sox won their 3rd series in a row and were one game over .500 as they headed out of Arlington.
