Sox Lose Another One Run Game, This Time to the Astros

The Red Sox had Jake Peavy on the mound yesterday in what might be his last start in a Sox uniform.  Peavy has been on the trade block and was scouted by a bunch of teams yesterday.  Peavy had the same kind of performances that he’s had all season long.  He pitched well, but got no run support.  Peavy has had 12 quality starts this season and a 1-8 record.  That’s just not right y’all!

The game stayed scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd inning when Peavy gave up a 2 run HR to Castro to have the Sox down 0-2.  The Sox got one of those runs back in the top of the 4th when David Ortiz just killed a ball as he hit a leadoff HR of the inning.  Sox 1-2.  Peavy worked in and out of trouble for the rest of his outing, but kept stranding runners in scoring position.  He definitely looked like a pitcher that a lot of teams might wanna see if they can get to bolster their rotation.  In the top of the 7th the Sox were able to rally to tie the game when Pedroia hit a sac fly to score Bradley Jr from 3rd.  Sox 2-2.

Peavy was still on the mound in the 8th, but once he gave up a leadoff double he was done for the day.  Andrew Miller came in and got 2 outs before handing the ball over to Tazawa.  Taz got a ground ball, but Brock Holt didn’t make a great throw to Pedroia in order to get the force out at 2nd base.  The run scored from 3rd and the Astros took the lead.  The Sox had a shot in the top of the 9th when Betts and Holt both reached with one out, however the game was ended when Pedroia ground into a double play.  Farrell reviewed the play, but it seemed pretty clear that Pedey was out.
