The Red Sox took the mound in the final game of a horrific west coast series with hopes of taking the game and the series against the Mariners. Aaron Cook pitched well for the Sox, however he got little to no run support. The Sox ended the road trip with another loss to be 1-8 in that time. I’ll be happy for the Sox to come home to Fenway and for the games to go back to starting at 7pm.
Aaron Cook pitched well for the Sox especially given how poor his last outing was. Cook pitched 6 innings and only gave up 2 runs. Cook allowed the two runs to score in the bottom of the 4th when he loaded the bases with no outs. Cook gave up an RBI single to Ackley and the damage had been done. Sox 0-2. For what could have been a big inning, Cook limited the damage to just two runs. In the top of the 6th, the Sox bats got their one and only run of the night on an RBI double from Cody Ross. Sox 1-2. Cook was done after 6 innings and Andrew Miller was in for the 7th. Miller got 2 outs and then issued a walk. Bobby V went with the former closer Alfredo Aceves to get the 3rd out of the 7th. Aceves got the out and then also pitched a scoreless 8th inning. Unfortunately, the Sox would not have a rally in their bones and the game would end with the Sox losing 1-2. The game was well pitched by the Sox, however the offense was missing in action.
Let’s hope the off day and returning to Fenway does good things for the Sox. See y’all on Friday.
