Sox Lose In Extras to the Os

The Sox have now lost 3 in a row and making it so that the drive for 500 ball is once again upon them.  This will be a quick recap since I was at the extra long game last night and heading out the door to hopefully see the Red Sox right the ship today.

Jon Lester wasn’t great…wasn’t bad.  He pitched 6 innings and allowed 3 runs.  When he left the mound, the Sox has a 4-3 lead.  However, Padilla came in and ended up giving up the tying run.  Rich Hill came out to finish the 7th and got the out we needed.  Matt Albers, who has pitched pretty nicely this season, came out and pitched two scoreless innings of relief.  If we had won, Albers was followed by who would be the hero of the game.  Alfredo Aceves took the mound and pitched his guts out.  He pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.  In the first 2 innings, Aceves K’ed 6 batters.  He looked spectacular…magically even.  Unfortunately, Aceves was followed by Franklin Morales who gave the O’s the lead for good.  Morales allowed 2 runs to score and that would be it for the Sox in the 13th.

As for the offense, there wasn’t a lot going on.  Cody Ross scored on a passed ball in the 2nd.  Sox 1-1.  The O’s tied it up with a Reynolds solo HR.  Sox 1-1.  The Sox got the lead back in the 3rd with sac RBIs from David Ortiz and Cody Ross.  Sox 3-1.  The O’s tied it up again with RBIs from Wieters and Betemit.  Sox 3-3.  The Sox went ahead 4-3 with an RBI from Pedroia in the 5th.  The O’s tied it up again in the 7th with the bases loaded and no outs.  They hit into a double play, but it still scored Reynolds.  That would be it for scoring until the 13th when the O’s got 2 runs off of Franklin Morales.

Extra innings loses always sting a little more.  Let’s get back at the winning today…shall we?
