The Red Sox had just lost 2 games in a row and now were heading off on a 9 game NL trip where we lose our DH or have Adrian Gonzalez in the outfield. Gulp. Jon Lester took the mound last night once again looking for his 10th win of the season. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t get it. The Sox got on the board early with Ells walking and Youk getting an RBI bringing him home. The Pirates seemed to make Lester work each time he took the mound and in the 3rd inning they loaded the bases against him with no outs. The Pirates scored two runs in that inning to lead 2-1. The Pirates added on another run in the 6th. Albers, Hottovy and Wheeler took over for Lester, but the Red Sox bats were not able to get to Maholm or the bullpen and fell 3-1. The Sox offense had opportunities, but unfortunately weren’t able to get the timely hits when they had men in scoring position.
Let’s go out tomorrow and snap this losing streak we have going on!
