Sox Offer Papi A 2 Year Deal

It is being reported through a tweet from ESPN’s Joe McDonald that David Ortiz has been offered a 2 year deal from the Sox worth $18 million. 

Ortiz would ideally like to get a 2 yr deal around the amount of $25 mil, however I am not sure what teams have that money to spend for multiple years, except of course the Miami Marlins who seem to be throwing money at EVERYONE!  *winks*  It’ll be interesting to see, if this offer is true, whether or not Ortiz takes this offer or if he will accept arbitration which would only give him one year but more money.  Of course, he could also do neither and go out looking for more money and more years from another team.

I will be wildly disappointed if the Sox do not re-sign David Ortiz.  We need a DH and he’s the best in the business.  I also think we need his presence in the clubhouse, given all the drama about last September and beyond.
