Sox Rally and Walk Off Against the Indians!

The Red Sox had their final game of a 4 game series against the Indians and hoped to send friend Terry Francona home with another loss.  The Sox had Felix Doubront on the mound who was coming off a good start that they were hoping he was going to build upon.  Doubront would end up getting a no decision and the Sox would win an exciting one in the 9th in walk off fashion.  It's wins like this that make baseball such an exciting and dramatic sport.

Doubront got off to an unlucky start.  Ellsbury and Drew almost had a collision and as a result Ells wasn't able to make the catch.  Doubront almost got out of the inning without any damage, but then he gave up a 2 out single to Santana to have the Indians leading 2-0 in the 1st.  The Sox bats would get one of those runs back in the 3rd inning with an RBI single from Nava to score Drew.  Sox 1-2.  Doubront would give up another in the 5th with a HR to the Pesky Pole for Kipnis.  Sox 1-3.  Doubront would give up another HR in the 6th, this time a no doubter to the Monster for Nick Swisher.  Sox 1-4.  Doubront was done for the night after 6 innings.  While he gave up 2 runs early and then 2 solo HRs, Doubront still had himself another outing he can build upon.  His pitching line for the night was 112 pitches, 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB and 8 Ks.  All in all, not too shabby.

Alex Wilson came out in relief of Doubront in the 7th and had himself a nice 1-2-3 inning.  Breslow came out in the 8th and ended up giving up a run on a sac fly by Swisher.  Sox 1-5.  In the bottom of the 8th the Sox were able to get that run right back.  Stephen Drew, who had himself a great day at the plate, hit a leadoff triple and then he made it home by way of an Iglesias sac fly.  Sox 2-5.  Breslow came back out for the 9th and was able to pitch himself a nice 1-2-3 inning.

The Sox had 3 outs left to try to rally to a win and that is just what they did.   Indians closer Chris Perez came to the mound and found a lot of trouble.  Pedey got a leadoff walk and Papi hit a double to get Pedey to third.  Napoli hit an RBI groundout to score Pedey, but that was one out.  Sox 3-5.  Papi stole third base.  What…let me say that again….PAPI STOLE THIRD and then Salty hit an RBI groundout to score Papi.  Sox 4-5.  However the team was now down to their final out.  Jonny Gomes walked and then Stephen Drew came to the plate.  Drew had been struggling as of late, but he seemed locked in this afternoon.  Drew hit a single and Gomes went to third base.  Iggy came to the plate and had an epic at bat that end with him getting a walk to load the bases.  Ellsbury would come to the plate and Perez wouldn't make it through the at bat.  After throwing a pitch to Ellsbury it looked like Perez hurt his pitching arm.  The trainers would come out and Perez was out of the game.  Joe Smith would come into the game and the first pitch he threw to Ellsbury would end the game.  Ells hit a double to deep center field for the walk off win!  The Sox scored 4 runs in the inning to take 3 out of 4 games from the Indians before sending them out of town.
